History: The Clowns began their long sojourn in Black baseball as the traveling Miami Clowns, and used comedy routines as part of their act. But it was all straight baseball once they became a member of the Negro American League in 1943, and in 1952 they were joined by a young slugger named Henry Aaron (#5). The Clowns survived as a touring team for decades after the demise of Negro leagues baseball.
